Shot List Photoshoot

The reason I decided not to use this photo within my magazine is because the photo wasn't in focus, therefore causing it to be an unclear and blurry picture. If it was used it would cause the magazine to look poor and unprofessional. The target audience may not be able to relate to the actor in photo as they may not be able to see them properly and gain a true relationship from their identity, as you cant see their face properly. Due to it looking unprofessional, the TA may decide against buying this product as they may see it as an unreliable magazine and then decide to buy competitors products.

This is also a photo I decided not to use in my magazine due to multiple reasons. First off all is due to the back ground colour. For a rap magazine, this isn't a suitable colour to be associated with a rapper as it is to bright. A darker, more subtle colour would be a smarter colour to use, like the once used in the photo below. Having this particular colour as a background colour that largely stands out within a rap magazine, would affect the magazines reliability and professionalism. This is because it is too friendly and doesn't fit in with the rap stereotype. This means that the target audience may decide against buying this product and want to buy one that looks more like what they are looking for, that they are able to relate too and attracts their attention.

I did actually decide to use this as my picture for my double page spread within my magazine. The reason for this is because I used the rule of thirds and positioned the actor to the right of the landscape shot. This therefore leaves space to the left side of the picture which is ideal for placing my text, helping it look more look a professional magazine and helping persuade the target audience to purchase this product. Using a rule of third and having the image look like it does, helps it fit in with common magazine conventions. Another reason I used this picture is because of how the actor looks. He possesses a rather shady look as he is looking away from the camera and not giving direct mode of address to create a direct relationship with the audience as well as the shadow that is located to the left of him . He also isn't giving a away his full identity as not all of his face is visible. This is beneficial for a rap magazine as rap artists are stereotyped as being rather mysterious and quite scary, so this will help the target audience relate to this article and make the article look like it is in the right magazine and not out of place.

Rap Magazine Survey

This is a survey I set up on survey monkey. The reason I set this up is to conduct some primary research on my target audience to ensure my magazine consists of many features that the target audience enjoy. This is to ensure the magazine fully appeals to the target audience and also to make sure it looks professional and doesn't look out of place on a shop shelf. Making sure the magazine looks professional as well as making it include many features the target audience want to see, would allow it to make more sales if it was on sale. Making it attract to the target audience would increase the customer satisfaction and make them gain confidence in this particular magazine, therefore persuading them to regularly by this magazine over other ones as they know it contains exactly what they want to see.

Actor / Location / Costume (Photo Analysis)

Actors
The actors I will use for my music magazine will be Taylor. The reason for this is because he fits some of the characteristics a rapper may have and what he wears also helps him fit what I would like within my magazine. Having someone like him, associated with my magazine will help for the sales of the magazine as customers will tell the magazine is realistic and worth spending money on. If it was someone who no one could relate rap to, sales wouldn't be good and people would think the magazine isn't serious. Therefore they wouldn't buy the product.

Location
The main location I will be setting my pictures will be in the school. However they won't be obvious, showing many school related scenes as this would not fit the rapper lifestyle and would not work well on a magazine as not many people will buy a rap magazine with a picture located in a classroom. The photos will be discrete and in shady, more urban areas of the school to help link in with rap stereotypes. The reason behind having it in a school is because my DPS will be based around him and within that I mention his age which is 16 and at 16 years old he is still in school which is where a lot of his time will be spent. Therefore this location links in with his life and background as this is still a big part of his life, so it is a suitable background for the actor.

Costume
The costumes that will be used for the photos are going to be rather casual. This is because this breaks the stereotypes of what clothing is commonly associated with big rappers. They would usually wear expensive clothing and accessories as they are rich and will have the disposable income to do so due to their success. But because he is wearing casual clothing, it isn't the norm for rappers, this shows that being successful doesn't mean that they have to be any different to normal society and show off. Due to his age 16, the causal clothes will represent his age, as 16 year olds aren't known for wearing expensive and flashy stuff such as suits, gold chains and jewellery as a lot of well known adult rappers do and usually wear casual clothes such as jeans and a t-shirt.
